The successor of the Galaxy S9 would be the Galaxy X: report

Did you think that the Galaxy X would be Samsung’s first flexible cell phone ? Well, although it has been rumored for years it seems that the Galaxy X will be the successor of the Galaxy S9 , as reported by the blog GizChina .

Citing “anonymous sources”, the blog says that Galaxy X will be the nomenclature that will be used for the Galaxy S line of phones since 2019.

The new name will come perhaps to challenge more Apple and its iPhone X, as well as to simplify its name a little (Galaxy X, Galaxy X1).

Samsung has not yet presented the Galaxy S9, so it would take more than a year to know if the company would really take this course. Therefore, it is better to take this rumor with great caution.

Samsung plans to present its new flagship phone on February 25 at an event prior to MWC 2018 in Barcelona.
