Vivo surprises once again with a cell phone that not only integrates the fingerprint reader on the screen, but also its screen has the smallest bevels I’ve seen. It also brings other technologies that make it more advanced than the Vivo X20 Plus UD we met in January.
The Vivo Apex is currently a prototype and there is no release date, but it is undoubtedly one of the most interesting devices we have seen at the Mobile World Congress (MWC 2018) in Barcelona .
First, if you considered the iPhone X, Galaxy S9 , Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 or Essential Phone as cellular without borders, bevels or frames, here you will think more than once. The Vivo Apex takes all this to another level, by integrating a top and side bezel of 1.8mm and a bottom bezel of 4.3mm.
To do this, the company had to hide the front camera, and change the proximity sensors, light and headset so you can listen while you talk on the phone.
The camera is hidden at the top edge and appears and hides automatically when you need it or have stopped using it. Vivo says that the camera appears and disappears in 0.8 seconds and in our tests it appeared relatively fast, although you hear the same mechanism that takes it out and puts it into the body of the cell phone.
The light sensor is on the lower edge, and the proximity sensor (which serves to turn off the screen when you talk on the phone and do not activate other functions by accident) is located behind your OLED screen.
The headset is invisible, as the sound is played through the screen and the body of the device, similar to the technology that.
The Vivo Apex also has a fingerprint reader built into the screen, but unlike the Vivo X20 Plus UD, this cell phone has a wider area that makes it easier to use.
In addition, the company also offers double verification of footprint, in which it is necessary to place two fingers on this area to unlock the cell phone or authenticate apps or payments.
The Vivo Apex still integrates a headphone jack, has speakers on the bottom and its 6-inch screen (5.99 inches to be exact) has a Full HD + resolution.
The body of this Android phone reminded me a lot of the Essential Phone, with a flat frame and curved corners. However, it is clear that this cell phone has more advanced specifications and smaller bezels.
