Moto G6, Moto G6 Play India launch Highlights: Price starts at Rs 11,999
Moto G6, Moto G6 Play smartphones from Motorola India have been launched in the Indian market today. Moto G6 series will be the latest in the mid-budget smartphone range from the company, and like previous Moto phones will runpure Android. Moto G6 now has the new 18:9 aspect ratio display and also comes with a dual-rear camera at the back, which has become common in the mid-range segment.
Motorola hosted a live stream via Twitter for the Moto G6 and Moto G6 Play India launch. Moto G6 has a starting priceof Rs 13,999 for the 3GB RAM + 32GB storage version. The 4GB RAM and 64GB storage variant will cost Rs15,999 in India. Moto G6 will be Amazon exclusive in India and will go on sale from today. Moto G6 Play will cost Rs 11,999 in India for the 3GB RAM and 32GB storage variant. It will be Flipkart exclusive and goes on sale from midnight today.
The Moto G6 bears a dual rear camera setup, with a 12-megapixel primary sensor and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor, featuring an f/1.8 aperture. The company is touting the slow motion video recording as one of the features, apart from a Bokeh depth-of-field Portrait Mode, a Text Scanner mode that converts an image to text, and a Spot Color mode that lets users retain colour on only one object in the image, while turning the rest of the photo monochrome. On the front, the Moto G6 bears a 16-megapixel sensor, and offers a beautification mode as well as a group selfie mode. Both front and rear cameras also feature the company’s Face Filters feature.

As we mentioned, the Moto G6 in India will be available in two storage variants – 32GB and 64GB – both of which are expandable via microSD card (up to 128GB) featuring its own dedicated slot.
Connectivity options on the Moto G6 include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n (dual-band, 2.4GHz and 5GHz), Bluetooth v4.2, GPS/ A-GPS, USB Type-C, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Sensors on board include an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, gyroscope, magnetometer, and a proximity sensor. It bears a fingerprint sensor on the home button below the display. It measures 154.5×72.4×8.3mm, weighs 167 grams, and is powered by a 3000mAh battery that’s coupled with a TurboPower charger in-the-box. The company is also touting support for Dolby Audio on the smartphone’s speaker, apart from nano-coating technology that protects the smartphone from scratches.
Moto G6 Play
Coming to the Moto G6 Play – the dual-SIM (Nano) smartphone runs Android 8.0 Oreo, and sports a 5.7-inch HD+ (720×1440 pixels) Max Vision IPS display. It is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 430 SoC clocked up to 1.4GHz, coupled with the Adreno 505 GPU and 3GB of RAM.
The Moto G6 Play has a single rear camera, with the 13-megapixel sensor coupled with an f/2.0 aperture lens. On the front, it bears an 8-megapixel sensor coupled with an 80-degree wide-angle lens and an f/2.2 aperture. It bears 32GB of inbuilt storage that’s expandable via microSD card (up to 128GB).
